The building entrance is unattractive and there are 3 different doors to find and make your way through. Reception is two blocks away so there is no one to ask. You get a photo copy picture of the three doors to help you locate them yourself.

Clean, comfortable, great location.

The fact that the downstairs gate is hard to get into with the strange key they give yo, but thats only early in the morning from 12 till 6 am

It is close to the center and old town...pretty much everything and also the mini stores to buy something to eat late at midnight.
The room i stayed had a balcony also and not a far walk from the metro.

Although the hostel itself was modern, the passage that led to the hostel was old and rundown.

Location was great next to the main shopping streets. Clean and modern flat with good beds. Elevator to the top floor & cosy oldschool balcony.

This hostel is located in the first floor an old commercial building, although there is an elevator, what's is very helpfull with you have hughe luggage. It's very well located (its greatest advantage), you can easily walk from the Florenc Station until there, behind is located the biggest citys Shopping Center and walking 10min you get till the Clock.
The stuff is not friendly but make their job. Rooms "with bathroom " have only the famous button shower and a lavatory (no toilet). Kitchen is not very clean, but rooms, bathroom and toilet were clean. Breakfast includes cheese, bread, ham, jelly, cornflakes, milk, coffee, tea, but is not very appetizing. There are no lockers in the rooms only a small locker next to the reception. There is a "cage" in the passage where people can leave the luggage after checking out. There were cameras but i didn't find it very save...
There was only a thin courtin in the room, but we were so tired that could sleep anyway...that's was not so good to change clothes.
Best option for people that wants good price, great location and don't mind about luxus.

Ok, so my stay wasnt horrible, and it was over 3 years ago, but here are a couple things i remember clearly.

i was travelling solo, as a female, 24, at the time.
no privacy, the doors to the rooms aren't really kept locked. i dont believe there are any lockers and if there are, they are in the lobby. the common area is a major smoking area and the furniture is crap. i was in a room with 7 beds - the best part about the stay was that the other 6 travellers were all solo as well, so we had a blast. our room was large. it is close to one of the metro stops, which was convenient. it was also a quick 10 min walk to the old town square, which was not too bad and i felt pretty safe walking it alone.

this is the bad part - the showers are crap. there are no stalls. three shower heads, so you get to show off your rear to your fellow travellers (actually the worst part is seeing theirs!). i also felt that the door was not secure on the bathroom, so guys could have walked in at anytime. also, there are no window coverings, so i am sure i gave a free show to whoever was watching in the next building over. blech....pass on this, unless you spend your time in prague in an absinthe induced coma.

As I searched backpacker hostels in Prague online, the Apple Hostel stood out because it offered free lockers and had a great location. I was convinced this was my best choice as a lone traveller.

I arrived at 6pm in Prague and unfortunately it was dark. However, armed with a map I headed off confidently. The Apple Hostel is situated in a well known part of the city and so the general area is easy to find. However, the actual hostel is tucked down a side street and is marked with a very unobtrusive sign and so I ended up walking past it and getting myself quite lost. I eventually found it right back where I first started, opposite a large mall.

The Hostel is clean and basic. It was filled with 65 drinking, smoking French guys and girls my first night but then only had 5 people in it the next night... such is the winter season! Overall, it did the job and I felt safe. Here are some positives & negatives:

Positives:
Within walking distance of all major attractions in Prague
Very close to public transport
Great supermarket across the street
Could lock my room door
Linen was included
Room was clean
Breakfast was included (corn flakes were good)
Was reasonably priced (for Europe!)
Most of the people who worked there were very friendly and helpful
There was lots of info about tours, etc available
Internet available for reasonable cost

Negatives:
Locker was only big enough to hold my passport and camera
The showers were open and there wasn't a door - not very Aussie-friendly!
No curtains on my room's windows so bright, orange lights shined in all night
Loud construction site across the road that went on all night
Some of the breakfast was a bit dodgy (cold tea and dry bread rolls)
One receptionist was particularly rude and unhelpful

Overall, I would stay there again. Just to be in Prague was a dream come true! Just make sure you have locks for your bags if you stay in the 12-bed dorm!
